ELIT's "Literature and Cinema Flair" Celebrates Cross-Departmental Student Achievements
On December 26, 2023, IUS English Language and Literature (ELIT) study program hosted the "Literature and Cinema Flair" event, a highlight of the Literature on Film (LITE308) course. This course, led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Nadira Puškar-Mustafić, equipped students from the ELIT, Visual Arts and Visual Communications Design (VACD) study programs and Faculty of Law (FLW) with skills in writing movie scripts, film reviews, and creating comic books.
While the event itself focused on live performances and short movie screenings, it celebrated the culmination of the diverse skills students developed during the course. Sara Mezit from VACD delighted the audience with her musical performances, and ELIT's Esma Hasani provided insightful introductions to the films, enhancing the viewing experience.
The awards, selected by a committee including Asst. Prof. Nejira Mulahmetović (VACD), Fatima Ejubović (ELIT), and Asst. Prof. Dr. Nadira Puškar Mustafić (ELIT), honored student excellence in film adaptation and acting. Standout achievements included "Dora," an adaptation of Jane Austen's "Emma," winning best film, and acting awards going to Muzaffer Özdemir (Best Actor for "Dora"), Tajra Bjedić (Best Actress for "The House of Unity"), Ahmed Pejković (Best Supporting Actor for "Ensnared in the Clownish Desires"), and Ajla Avdić (Best Supporting Actress for "The House of Unity").
The event concluded with the presentation of the first-ever Flair Awards (IUS Oscars) and gifts, highlighting the creative journey and interdisciplinary collaboration of the students. This event showcased the rich talent and teamwork within the IUS community.
