Final year students of the Visual Arts and Visual Communication Design (VACD) program at the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) completed their designs for the competition of the best artistic work on the topic of justice and accountability in the context of sexual violence committed during the war. International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) announced the competition. In order to better inform the public about the sexual violence in the past war and its consequences, Assoc. Prof. Kenan Zekić submitted joint works of students and professor as part of the “Design Studio II” course on June 8, 2015.
For VACD program it is very important that students understand the issues that have happened in terms of sexual violence in the past war and involve in activities of wider social importance in promoting the values of civil society through their creative works. Selected works will be shown in the forthcoming publication and exhibited at promotion of the book that speaks about experiences of Prosecutor's Office in the process of prosecution of crimes of sexual violence committed during the conflict in the former Yugoslavia. In particular, this book will present a review of achievements and challenges of Prosecutor's Office as well as lessons learned during the investigation and prosecution of crimes of sexual violence dealt at the ICTY.
