VACD Guest Lecture: Performance Art, Sound and Moving Image
The Visual Arts and Visual Communications Design (VACD) program at the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) is organizing a guest lecture titled “Performance Art, Sound and Moving Image.”
The guest lecturer, Dr. Maja Zećo, is an interdisciplinary artist working across performance art, sound, and moving image. She is also a VACD alumna, former Senior Assistant, and currently a lecturer and postdoctoral Research Assistant at Gray’s School of Art, Robert Gordon University, UK.
In her research-based artistic practice, Dr. Zećo explores themes of identity, decoloniality, and Balkan futurisms. Her critical exploration has led her to engage in performative acts such as diving into water to evoke memory, conducting sensory impairment experiments, and testing endurance. She completed a practice-based PhD in 2019 and has presented her work across the UK and internationally, including in Melbourne, London, Zurich, Zagreb, and Sarajevo.
Born in Sarajevo, Dr. Zećo currently lives and works in Scotland.
