Typography Meets Theatre: VACD Students Explore Drama Through Design
On Thursday, May 22, 2025, the IUS Visual Arts and Visual Communications Design (VACD) program had the honor of welcoming Assistant Professor Dr. Nadira Puškar-Mustafić as a guest lecturer in the Typography II course (VA304), taught by Assistant Professor Nejira Mulahmetović, MA. The session, titled “Words on Stage: Contemporary Drama and Its Visual Echo,” offered a unique interdisciplinary perspective.
As the lead professor of Contemporary Drama in the English Language and Literature (ELIT) program, Dr. Puškar-Mustafić shared compelling insights into how theatrical narratives can be interpreted and enriched through visual and typographic design. Her engaging talk highlighted the synergy between literature and design, emphasizing that typography can function as a form of performance on the page.
This collaboration served as an intellectual springboard for an upcoming typographic design project, in which students will visually respond to contemporary dramatic works.
We extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Puškar-Mustafić for her inspiring contribution and continued support of creative, cross-disciplinary learning.
