Strengthening International Academic Exchange: IUS at Effat University

On Wednesday, November 26, 2025, Assistant Professor Nejira Mulahmetović, MA, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) and faculty member of the Visual Arts and Visual Communications Design (VACD) program, delivered guest lectures at Effat University – College of Architecture & Design in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Across two courses - Contemporary Issues & Sustainability (GSUS 162) and Contemporary Issues in Design (DESN 431) - Professor Mulahmetović presented lectures titled “From Vision to Verification: Sustainability Audits in Design-Driven Service Sectors.” She explored how sustainability can be measured, verified, and communicated across architecture, design, product development, interior design, and marketing, offering students an in-depth look at global sustainability frameworks, auditing challenges, carbon accounting, cultural relevance, and design ethics.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Effat University, the College of Architecture & Design, and particularly Dr. Dina Mostafa, Assistant Professor of Interior Design, for their kind invitation, exceptional coordination, and warm hospitality.

Professor Mulahmetović highlighted the students’ remarkable engagement, thoughtful questions, and inspiring discussions across Interior Design, Architecture, Product Design, Graphic Design, and Marketing programs. She emphasized that representing the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) and FASS is always an honor, allowing the University to strengthen academic dialogue, expand its international presence, and contribute to global conversations on sustainability, design ethics, and measurable impact.

This collaboration reflects the commitment of both institutions to international academic exchange, advancing sustainable design education, and empowering future generations of creative leaders. IUS looks forward to further joint initiatives and continued cooperation with Effat University.
