Towards 2026: Building Bridges Between Research, Art, and Education
On Friday, October 31, 2025, the Museum of Literature and Performing Arts in Sarajevo hosted a working visit attended by Dr. Damir Kahrić, lecturer in the ELIT and ELT programs; Assistant Professor Nejira Mulahmetović, MA, from the Visual Arts and Visual Communications Design (VACD) program and Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS); and Ms. Samina Tanović, Art Director of Hayat Television and President of the Association of Applied Artists and Designers of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ULUPUBiH). The visitors were warmly received by Ms. Ifeta Lihić, the Museum’s curator.
The meeting centered on preparing for an upcoming interdisciplinary project planned for 2026, envisioned as a platform for collaboration between scientific, educational, and artistic fields. The participants also discussed future joint activities and opportunities for continued partnership between the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) and the Museum.
This initiative represents a collaborative platform that unites diverse academic and artistic disciplines, encouraging dialogue between education, science, and the arts. It reflects the shared commitment of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) and the Faculty of Education (FEDU) to developing projects that connect academic research with creative and cultural practice.
A Memorandum of Understanding between IUS and the Museum, signed in the summer of 2025, laid the groundwork for this partnership. The core project team includes Dr. Damir Kahrić, Assistant Professor Nejira Mulahmetović, MA, Ms Samina Tanović, Associate Professor Roman Sulejmanpašić, MFA (VACD) and Associate Professor Dr. Vesna Suljić, ELIT Program Coordinator.
Students from the ELIT/ELT and VACD programs will also take an active role, contributing through their research projects, artistic works, and design concepts. Their participation embodies IUS’s ongoing dedication to fostering integrative learning, innovation, and community engagement.
This collaboration stands as an important contribution to Bosnia and Herzegovina’s cultural and academic development, highlighting the enthusiasm and vision of IUS faculty and students in promoting creativity, research excellence, and international cooperation.
